Simply More Plants is proud when we are able to outreach into the community and teach others to grow more plants. Whether you want to grow at home or have a school/organization you want to inspire we can help you.
Here are a few of our proudest projects:
Chocachatti Elementary School created a small business teaching kids about growing food and how to market it. They grow, harvest, and sell to the students and parents.
“We wanted to enlighten and empower our students with the responsibility of healthy food growth and consumption. Therefore, the Garden of Eatin’ was born. It is a micro in which students learn the benefits of growing fruits and vegetables organically. Students are provided with hands on experiences in growing and harvesting organic vegetables on our 6 vertical Tower Gardens. They are responsible to test PH levels, maintain water levels, harvest weekly, and share their knowledge through providing tours and giving demonstrations. Our micro students also research and create new recipes using our fresh organic produce and allow others to learn about how to make these healthy recipes taste great! Students also educate others on not only how to grow organically, but how it can help them to live a healthier lifestyle. We believe that healthy living should start early in life. We believe teaching our students the science behind growing, harvesting, and eating healthy foods is an important life skill that will have a positive impact for years to come.” ~ Lara Silva, Principal Chocachatti Elementary
“This past year, our elementary school set up a Tower Garden project. What an amazing journey it has been!! The kids have enjoyed every step of the process from building, growing, testing, harvesting and eating. To see kids excited over what they have grown and even better knowing that they are eating healthy!! Thank you Maria for all of your help every step of the way!! What a huge success?.” ~Connie Ottoson, Teacher Chocachatti Elementary
At People Helping People we helped set up a community garden that teaches those less fortunate how to grow their own food. On Sundays, we help the organization harvest food for the dinner they provide to the needy and homeless. What a great feeling to give not only donated bread and pastries but also greens they can take home. Read a great article about the garden HERE.
The Juice Plus company is on a mission to give a Tower Garden to every Boys and Girls Club in the United States. Simply More Plants has been honored to help eight clubs get growing with their own donated tower!
Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to speak to the fourth and fifth graders at Pine Grove Elementary. The students were quite impressed by your presentation–to the point of silence during your slide show. The many questions that you answered afterward led many of the students to have even more questions once you left. Some students used their classroom computers and many came to the Media Center to look for even more information on plant life for improved health. Students came into classes telling of some of the discussions that they had with their parents about possible changes to their diet. A few of the girls claimed that they had transitioned to a plant based diet with occasional breaks for a slice of pizza as a result of your convincing lecture. Once again, thank you for your time, expertise and patience in opening eyes and minds to other possibilities. We will look forward to having you come back next school year to speak to a new group of fourth and fifth graders.
